Defending golf tournament champ Billy Venturini supports charity to benefit kids
TOLEDO OH (5-7-03) On behalf of Golden Bear Golf, Busch Series driver Jason Keller and his own desire to help, Billy Venturini continues to show support for the Children's Shrine Hospital Charity. Venturini carried the logos on the #25 Venturini Motorsports Chevy at Toledo Speedway.

"Busch driver Jason Keller and Mark Goad from Golden Bear Golf, which helps sponsor me, have both worked together to help with children's charities for the past 8 years," said Venturini. "They run a great golf tournament each year together that always has a sold-out field and have raised close to $500,000 to help kids. I have personally played in the event over the years and competed in their celebrity shoot out with all the Busch, All Pro, Truck and some Cup guys that play in it. I'm also proud to be the defending champion of the shoot out and am the first and only ARCA driver to win it.

"There is always a lot of support from the racing community when it comes to charities and the real winner in their event is the charity.

"I started a golf tournament over 8 years ago to help my niece and others who had Cystic Fibrosis (CF)," said Keller. "A lot of people have helped me in so many ways with donations and supporting the event over the years.  At right, Jason Keller (left) & Billy Venturini

"Myself and Golden Bear Golf have now put our efforts towards helping the Children’s Shrine Hospital, along with the Blackwell family, who owns the Greenville Pickens Speedway."

The Blackwell’s have raised over $850,000 with an annual Shriners race (with the All Pro Series) and a golf outing the started three years ago.

NASCAR All Pro driver Randy Gentry and Keller will also be running the same charity logo, like Billy Venturini from the ARCA RE/MAX Series, on selected races to help bring awareness and promote the golf event this year.

This year's event is on August 8th at the Three Pines Country Club with a 9 am shotgun start in Woodruff, SC (just outside of Greenville, SC) and tied into the fall NASCAR All Pro race on August 9th at Greenville Pickens Speedway. Kodak Southeast Tour drivers and Busch drivers will be participating in the golf event. The cost to play in the event is $400 per team and is limited to a 144 person field on a first-come basis. All golfers receive a goodie bag at registration. Plenty of prizes, meals and drinks are also provided.  There will also be a raffle and a silent auction during the event. There are also tee sponsorships available. If you would like to play in the event, or make any donations toward the Children's Shrine Hospital Charities, you can call (864) 269-0852 and ask for Craig. Come help us make life a little better for the kids.
