FLAT ROCK SPEEDWAY HOSTS SUCCESSFUL 2014 PRESEASON PRACTICE DAY ACTIVITY

FLAT ROCK, MI—Flat Rock Speedway race teams and officials enjoyed sunny 55 degree weather for a busy annual preseason practice day, with 50 drivers in multiple divisions of race cars on track.

The ARCA Late Model division saw the greatest number of participants as Harold Fair Jr. recorded the fastest lap time of the 17 teams in attendance. Eric Lee, Jeff Vrsek, Scott Pemberton and Bryan Richards completed the top-5 fastest drivers based on transponder readings. Other drivers on hand included Derek Wiley, Joe Hawes, Terry Bogus, Steve Hawes, Todd Perkins, Brad Turner, Lori Hall, Dan Trosenj, Jimmy Alvis, Jeff Plumb and Paul Pelletier. Defending Flat Rock Speedway ARCA Street Stock champion Grant Hedges, who has moved up to the ARCA Late Model division, made his debut in the division.

There were 14 ARCA Street Stocks on hand, along with 8 ARCA Enduro Series teams, 5 ARCA Figure-8 teams and racers from the ARCA Truck Series, ARCA Sportsman division, INEX Legends and modifieds.

Among the fastest times posted by division were Tim Moore in Jeff Plumb’s ARCA Street Stock, Bobby Hugo in the Enduro division, past ARCA Figure-8 track champion Jeremy Vanderhoof, Jeff Myers Jr. in the ARCA Truck Series and Toledo Speedway ARCA Sportsman defending champ Jim Froling. Drivers were not required to record transponder readings for timing & scoring, but those who did became part of the first-ever Live Timing & Scoring transmission broadcast over the ARCA website at FlatRockSpeedway.com. The Live Timing & Scoring is an innovation of Acme Branding, the ARCA website host, and was administrated at the track by Frank Bockstanz and Casey Wagner.

Other notes from the day included many time track champion Dennis Whisman debuting an all new ARCA Figure-8 car, the Flat Rock Speedway debut of youngsters 13-year-old INEX Legends driver Ray Morneau and 14-year-old 2nd generation ARCA Enduro driver Nathan Sprotberry and the first on-track activity for defending ARCA 4-Cylinder champ and ARCA Figure-8 rookie David Katafiasz.

Flat Rock Speedway’s 2014 season is set to kick off Saturday, April 26, with ARCA Late Model, ARCA Figure-8 and ARCA Street Stock racing action starting at 7 p.m.
