SENNEKER CAPTURES DIAMOND RACING PRODUCTS JOY FAIR MEMORIAL
(Flat Rock, MI—June 6, 2015): In the fashion of Joy Fair, Terry Senneker Jr. sailed to victory in a sensational race as he captured the Diamond Racing Products Joy Fair Memorial 100 for the ARCA Moran Chevrolet Late Models Saturday night at Flat Rock Speedway. Debbie Delong, Joy’s daughter, spoke to the crowd and thanked them for their support and for paying tribute to her legendary father. Fair passed away in 2011 at the age of 81. Joy amassed 159 career wins at Flat Rock alone.
The 100 lap contest was also leg number 2 of the ARCA Royal Truck and Trailer Sales Gold Cup Series. A great 33 car field was on hand, with Justin Schroeder taking the DTS Drive Train Specialists $100 Fast time bonus with a lap of 11:657. With 20 cars in the field, 17 by time and 3 provisionals, a pair of 15 lap last-chance races set the 24 car field. Stan Yee Jr. took the first event over Corey Duane, with both moving to the 100. Jeff Plumb and rookie Guy Fire filled out the field with their 1-2 finish in the other last-chance race.
The 11 car inversion put Senneker on the pole and Terry set sail. An amazing display of driving and sometimes 3-wide action gave the fans a thrill, as the first 69 laps went without a yellow flag! Jeff Ganus closed in on Terry by lap 22, moving from his 7th starting position. Behind the lead duo, a 5 car battle ensued for third as Steve Cronenwett Jr., Paul Pelletier, Harold Fair Jr., Scott Hantz and Schroeder swapped spots back and forth. At the lap 50 mark, heavy traffic was in play for the leaders. Ganus swung low in a pack of cars and stole the point on lap 66. 3 laps later, Ganus and Joe Hawes came together, bringing out the first yellow. Hawes took responsibility, giving Jeff back the number 1 spot. The last 31 laps saw a flurry of yellow flags. Senneker dogged Ganus lap after lap as the duo ran door to door for the lead. On a lap 85 re-start, Pelletier slowed after tagging the back chute wall, scattering the field. On the next restart, Senneker zipped into the lead and stayed in command for the final 15 laps for the victory, his first-ever at Flat Rock. Ganus took the second spot in the great battle with Terry, Cronenwett Jr. was third, Schroeder fourth and Fair Jr. fifth, followed by Dakota Carlson, Andy Bozell, Scott Pemberton, Eric Lee and Dennis Strickland.
Derek Wiley, Nick Bailey, Frank Jiovani, rookie Corey Duane, Brad Riethmeyer, Hawes, Hantz, Phil Bozell, Fire, Plumb, Bryan Richards, Pelletier, Craig Everage and Yee Jr. were next in line. An amazing 17 cars finished on the lead lap and 21 of the 24 cars finished the race. Senneker took home $3025, including the $403 lap 26 bonus in memory of Wayne Pelkey, lap money at $5 per lap and the $250 bonus for most laps led from fans Rich and Judi Fidh.
A 25 lap B Main for the Late Models included the same type of racing as Tadek Stadniczuk and Mike Young swapped the lead back and forth. The lead pair ran side by side for the final 7 laps as Young inched out the win over a great challenge from Tadek. Grant Hedges, Jimmy Ward Jr., Derrick Sheppard and Clarity Newhouse completed the finishing order. Jimmy Thiel, Chris Benson and Jeff Vrsek were not able to start the race.
The ARCA DTS Drive Train Specialists Street Stock class hit the track for a 25 lap main event, as Tim Moore stole the lead from his brother Rob on a re-start on his way to the victory. Arnold Kirsch took a shot at the lead but settled for second, Scott Selmi was third, Nick Shanks fourth and 14 year old rookie Ray Morneau Jr. was fifth, followed by Landon Schuster, Troy Brehmer, Joe Haener, Aaron Greathouse and Rich Abel. Selmi topped the 23 car field with the Fastime Racing Engine and Parts quick lap at 13:591. Heat race winners were Rob Moore, Lonnie York and Benn Finch.
