BERLIN POINT LEADER BERGAKKER ENTERS MORAN CHEVROLET-STAN YEE MEMORIAL 150; DTS ADDS BONUS AWARDS
(Flat Rock, MI—July 21, 2015): Lowell, MI driver Brian Bergakker, the current outlaw Late Model point leader at Berlin, MI Raceway, is a surprise entry for Saturday’s Moran Chevrolet-Stan Yee Memorial 150 at Flat Rock Speedway. The event is race number 5 of 6 for the Royal Truck and Trailer Gold Cup Series.
Bergakker will be making his first-ever appearance at Flat Rock for the prestigious event. Brian was also the 2012 Late Model track champion at Kalamazoo, MI Speedway.
In other news, DTS Drive Train Specialists of Warren, MI has added $100 gift certificates for the 5th, 10th and 20th place finishers in Saturday’s 150 lap contest. DTS also serves as the sponsor of the track’s weekly Street Stock division.
Other bonus awards include the $333 Diamond Racing Products fast time award. Add to that the race by race Gold Cup Series $100 DTS Fast Time bonus and the driver that clocks that best lap will take home $433. Super fans Rich and Judi Fidh have also posted a $333 bonus to the driver that leads the most laps of the event.
And the leader of each lap will collect an additional $5 bonus through the lap sponsorship program. To add your name to the lap money sponsorship list at $5 per lap, call the track at 734-782-2480 or the Toledo Speedway office at 419-727-1100.
The race will award $2533 to the winner and $533 to start the contest. Each spot ends in the $33 in honor of Stan Yee’s famed number 33 cars, which he campaigned for nearly 40 years. Stan passed away in 2008.
An optional practice session is set for Friday evening, July 24 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. The pit area will open at 3:30. DTS Drive Train Specialists will sponsor a dinner for each pit pass purchaser after Friday’s practice session.
In addition to the 150 lap feature, the Late Models will also run last-chance race(s) and a 25 lap B Main (if 32 cars or over). The ARCA Praxair Figure 8’s will treat the fans to a pair of 20 lap features. The additional race is from the July 18 rainout of their event.
Race day on Saturday will see the pit area opening at 1:30, practice begins at 3 p.m. and the front gates will also open at that time. All tickets will go sale race day at 3 p.m. Time trials begin at 5:15 and racing gets the green flag at 7 p.m.
