ARCA ARAMARK LATE MODEL SPORTSMAN TO COMPETE FOR “SILVER CUP” IN 2016
Toledo, Ohio—October 7, 2015: ARCA, Flat Rock and Toledo Speedway officials have released several details regarding the ARCA Aramark Late Model Sportsman class for the 2016 season. A 3-race “Silver Cup” Series will be introduced, which will feature 50 lap feature events.
The announcement was made Tuesday night at a meeting with car owners, who have pledged their support to continue the class next year. A minimum 8-race schedule will be contested, with 3 of those events being Silver Cup races. Patterned after the ARCA Late Model Gold Cup, the races will award points for both the season-long standings and the 3-race series. 2 of the events will be held at Toledo and one at Flat Rock for the newly-created Silver Cup. A search for a sponsor for the 3 races will begin immediately.
“We are very pleased to announce these details for the ARCA Aramark Late Model Sportsman class for the 2016 season,” noted Ron Drager, ARCA President and Promoter of both Flat Rock and Toledo. “The meeting was called to confirm that there was commitment to continue the class, and, needless to say, we were pleased with the turnout of car owners. We can now move forward with laying out our schedules for next season and implement the Silver Cup idea for the class.”
Aramark Uniform Services will return as the division sponsor of the class for the third straight year. Gregg Oberle of Aramark made the announcement at the 2015 Season Championship race in late August.
Of the 8 races, 2 will be held at Flat Rock and the remaining 6 races will be contested at Toledo. A possible ninth race may be added as track officials put together the 2016 calendar of events, which will be released during the holidays.
The rule changes for all Flat Rock and Toledo divisions for 2016 will be released no later than the first week of November.
