REMEMBERING NANCY HOFFMAN

Nancy J. Hoffman, who teamed with her husband, Bob, to own the championship-winning ARCA Late Model Sportsman car driven by Jim Froling, passed away suddenly Thursday, December 10.

She was employed by the MIAT College of Technology as a Senior Financial Aid Officer and Compliance Officer at both campuses in Canton, MI and Houston, Texas, a job that she “loved and loathed. Nancy and Bob formed Wolverine Motorsports and for 14 years campaigned a race car with Jim Froling at the wheel.

Nancy served as President of the team and was a fixture at Flat Rock and Toledo Speedways as the entire family made racing a hobby. Their daughters, Emily and Kaylie, both worked at Flat Rock for a summer job during high school; Emily as “Slick”, the track mascot, and Kaylie in the concession stand operation.

Nancy was well-liked and respected among her fellow workers and kept the racing team in line until Bob’s retirement from both racing and his full-time job. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, rescuing pets and just enjoyed life and making people laugh.

Nancy is survived by her husband, Bob, mother, Betty Tabor; children Jonathan Varner, Emily Hoffman and Kaylie Hoffman; two step-children, Steve and Renee Hoffman, brother Warren Tabor; sister Debra Early and four grandchildren.

Visitation was held Sunday at the Rupp Funeral Home in Monroe, MI, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Services will be held at the funeral home Monday, December 14 at 11 a.m. Burial will be private.

The entire Flat Rock and Toledo Speedway family sends its thoughts and prayers to the Hoffman family.
