Flat Rock Speedway

Flat Rock Speedway was a stop for many drivers during their careers.  Count Mike Eddy as one of them!  This photo is from the late 1960’s, in his Chevelle at “The Rock”.  One of the fiercest competitors to ever hit the track, Eddy would go on to claim the ASA touring Late Model titles and Late Model victories across the nation in his famed #88 machines.  The Kawkawlin, MI driver collected 9 wins at Flat Rock in the early stages of his stellar career behind the wheel.  Mike’s son, Travis Eddy, is one of the top Modified racers in the area, and captured a win at Toledo in 2015 in the Top Speed Modified event.

**We need to take the time to thank Jim Hehl and Brian Norton for sharing their great photos from their collections with us!  Jim, who grew up in Flat Rock, MI, resides in Florida but still makes a couple trips a year back to the area.  Brian, a former Flat Rock Street Stock champion, lives in Lambertville, MI and is a frequent visitor to both tracks during the summer.  Brian also helps organize the Annual Racer’s Reunion event (April 2 at Toledo in 2016) and the events at the tracks. 

This duo spends countless hours putting together and adding to their collections of Flat Rock and Toledo photos and from other tracks across the Midwest.
