MONROE NEWS 250 ENDURO, MINI CUPS TO CONCLUDE FLAT ROCK SEASON
Flat Rock, MI—September 7, 2016: Flat Rock Speedway will close the doors on the 2016 racing season this Saturday night, September 10. The Monroe News 250 lap Enduro race and the Great Lakes Mini Cup Series cars will hit the ¼ mile paved oval for the final race of the season. Race time is at 6 p.m. Should weather force the cancellation of the event, it will not be rescheduled.
Saturday’s final race is also Kids Night! All kids to age 12 will be admitted FREE and will receive a FREE hot dog, courtesy of the track. Parents can pick up the kids ticket/food voucher at the track ticket office windows upon arrival to the track Saturday.
The Enduro race will carry bonus awards in memory of Brandon Swanson, an Enduro competitor, who passed away recently.
The first Enduro bonus is the “Mystery” starting position. After qualifying, a starting position number will be drawn. If that driver wins the race, they will collect a $450 bonus. Sponsors of this bonus include Sunny Media Group, Suburban Calcium Chloride Sales, Glass City Motorsports and the “Flat Rock Speedway Family Alliance”, which includes donations from current and former drivers. If no one wins this bonus, it will roll over to the September 10 Enduro race.
The second bonus is for the “Mystery” finishing position. The number will be drawn after qualifying; the driver that finishes in that position will collect a $52 bonus. Swanson’s car carried the #52.
Bonus number 3 awards a $52 bonus to the leader of lap 52, courtesy of Tony’s Tires and Glass City Motorsports.
Bonus #4 will see the driver who improves the most positions collect a $52 bonus from Dennis Bodary.
And bonus #5 is a $52 award to the driver that is leading at the lap 152 mark, courtesy of Jim’s Catering of Mt. Clemens, MI.
To qualify for the bonus awards, the car must carry the #52 decals on both sides of the car. Enduro drivers Jimmy Tucker and Jacob Thomas will have the decals available at the track and they are $3 each.
The pit area opens at 2:30 Saturday, with practice set for 4 p.m. The front gates and ticket office open at 4, time trials are at 5 and racing begins with a special start time of 6 p.m.
