MICHIGAN BEER MILE DRAWS 110 RUNNERS TO FLAT ROCK

Flat Rock, MI—November 14, 2015: Blue skies and comfortable November temperatures greeted a total of 110 runners for the inaugural “Michigan Beer Mile” at Flat Rock Speedway Saturday afternoon. Hosted and promoted by Boogahonk Events, LLC of Ann Arbor, the event featured an individual class, 2 and 4-person relay teams and the “Elite” division. Prior to each ¼ mile or lap around Flat Rock Speedway, the competitor consumed a 12 ounce beer. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to Movember, bringing awareness to Men’s Health.
A strong group of runners with ties to the speedway competed Saturday. Drivers Rob Moore, Kyle Worley and Derek Denton, crew members Rob Liedel and Jamie Moore, Stephanie Cronenwett and daughters Talya Knight and Tasha Vokally and track employee Amanda Zimmerman took part in the run, believed to be only the third-such event in the United States.
The runners were cheered on by family, friends and the curious who ventured to the track Saturday afternoon for the fun event.
Times were kept for each division. The winners were: Ian Hancke, Elite Beer Mile; Christopher Ridgard, Open and Masters class; Dan Skinner/Gary Duke, 2 person relay and Kevin Proudlock, Mark Germain; Matt Smith and Ryan Hudson, 4 person relay. The Moore/Moore/Liedel/Worley quartet finished third, just 10 seconds behind the winners! Kelly Denton/Derek Denton/Michael Denton/Mark Tonga were fourth.
