Preview: Corrigan Race Fuels 100 - Saturday 8/12!
One of the most competitive weekly classes in the state of Michigan is preparing for its biggest race of the season this Saturday, August 12 at Flat Rock Speedway!
The Corrigan Race Fuels 100 lap race for the ARCA DTS Drive Train Specialists Street Stocks division will come to life at Metro Detroit's Home Track in an action-packed race night. A 25 lap B Main, Monroe Superstore fireworks, the MCR Dwarf Cars, the Safety-Kleen Enduro 250 division, and a Kids Power Wheels Derby are also on the schedule of events for the evening.
Flat Rock Speedway is hosting the Corrigan Race Fuels 100 at Flat Rock Speedway this Saturday! This season of racing in the DTS Drive Train Specialists Street Stocks division has been one like no other, with a number of surprising wins and a wild new age of drivers up front, clashing with a great group of veterans at the front of the pack.
Kenyon Knight currently leads the DTS Drive Train Specialists Street Stocks A-Main point standings over Jeremy Vanderhoof by just 15 points. Knight is still looking for his first ever feature win at Flat Rock Speedway - the young driver has been consistently near the front, but is still looking to stop off in Monroe Asphalt Victory Lane for the first time. Vanderhoof, on the other hand, is looking to defend his 2022 championship run with a second consecutive championship at Flat Rock. He has taken three feature victories in eight races, and looks to make it four-of-nine this Saturday night.
In the overall points battle, waiting in the wings are another pair of drivers looking for their first victory of the 2023 racing season. Landon Schuster and Johnny Rangel are third and fourth in points respectively, both drivers hungry to take a big win at Flat Rock in a big race.
This 100-lap event has quickly become the biggest street stock event of the year. The Corrigan Race Fuels 100 has been won by 12 drivers over 17 runnings since 2005, with some big names taking the checkered flag over many runnings.
Greg Studt has become the winningest driver of the Corrigan Race Fuels 100. The Flat Rock champion has taken the checkered flag in this race four times - 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2022.
Studt looks to create history this weekend - no driver has ever won this race in consecutive years. The driver of the #33 looks to break the streak this weekend.
Only two other drivers have ever won this event more than once - Dan Ford Jr (2009, 2014) and Chad Guinn (2011, 2013) both have a pair of wins in this event.
Ron Allen, Jeff Metdepenningen, and Rob Moore Jr are just a selection of the other former winners of this race who are looking to run it back on Saturday night. Moore Jr won this race back in 2021 and Jeff Metdepenningen won this race in the #78 back in 2018. For Ron Allen, his last win in the Corrigan Race Fuels 100 stretches back to 2007!
The rescheduled Monroe Superstore FIREWORKS show will light up the skies Saturday night!
The Flat Rock Speedway fireworks are a tradition of over 40 years, beginning in 1981 and developing into a staple of the yearly racing schedule at Flat Rock, as well as a community event for the Flat Rock area.
Flat Rock Speedway will host a Kids Power Wheels Derby as part of the Saturday, August 12 race card. The highly-popular battery-powered machines will battle on the track at Flat Rock.
The Power Wheels Derby will take place pre-race, beginning at 6:35.

The Safety-Kleen Enduro 250 division will return on Saturday Night! Brad Turner and Derrick Sheppard look to take another win on the quarter-mile bullring, both drivers part of a wide-ranging field of drivers for this Saturday night. Robb Remick is currently the division points leader, despite his current search for his first win of the season. He looks to change that this Saturday night under the JAC LED lights!
The Midwest Classic Racer Dwarf Cars are set to return to Flat Rock Speedway this weekend as well! Matt Kemp looks to go back-to-back in the Dwarf Cars at Flat Rock, the young driver on a heater at the track. Kemp has taken every feature victory at Flat Rock since 2021.
There is no advance sale for this event. ALL tickets will go on sale at the track at 4 p.m. on race day. The ticket office and front gates will open at 4, with racing at 7 p.m.
Tickets are $20 for adults, $5 for kids under 12, and free for kids under 6.
