    A popular trend among social networking sites is Throwback Thursday, reminding us of some popular memory from the past. In recognition of Throwback Thursday, FlatRockSpeedway.com will feature a "Blast From The Past" each week.

    Jerry “Bear” Makara pictured here sporting a Haines T-shirt at Flat Rock Speedway in the Al Thornton owned Chevelle in 1969. This would be Makara’s first year in the late model division after advancing up from the Figure-8’s. Makara would be named the ARCA Rookie of the Year, paving the way to a very long and successful driving career.
